Eat local for the environment? Not so fast.

Choosing locally produced food over imported items is not always the best environmental choice. Very well done article in the Guardian (I think you can click the “digg”  read more button below).

Working out carbon footprints is horribly complicated,’ says Edwards-Jones. ‘It is not just where something is grown and how far it has to travel, but also how it is grown, how it is stored, how it is prepared.’
